I just heard an amazing thing from the Rebbe – this is very very very important – for some hope for miracles but the question is, do miracles happen and if they do, why – obviously most of life does not miraculously but naturally occur – most of us who are believers, feel almost obligated to believe and rely on miracles or give up our reliance on God and seek natural means – what is the line between acting and believing? – the answer is very simple, the Rebbe explains, that miracles are part of the natural order however it depends on how we act – when we act – and this is not based on the action rather belief – so when we act with the belief that miracles will happen – not hoping, but knowing – then miracles do happen; another mechanism is to go beyond our natural self- our natural self is not defined, say being religious or not, for being religious is our natural state if that was our upbringing – rather to go beyond our natural state, means to do something unnatural for you! whether it is adding a new mitzvah you were not doing – for any change which is beyond our current lifestyle, is an unnatural thing – this elicits God to act unnaturally i.e. miraculously (though presumably within the confines of nature for you!)
