I have often wondered why in the Rambam’s epic description of the five types of speech, words, dialogue, he teaches, that a good person will only speak words of wisdom and kindness – why? – wouldn’t a person indulge in the pleasure of intellectualism, which Aristotle felt to be the greatest pleasure on earth – however, the more we discover, the more we see, that facts are in truth meaningless – what difference does it make how many stars there are in a galaxy and if or if not there are planets surrounding them? and how many moons around a planet, around a star, in a galaxy, which is so distant, it appears as a single star in ours! – yes, the Ramabam is right, for to indulge in any pleasure – even intellectualism, is simply a waste of precious time
