I have a theory – I know, a number of those – that we begin life open – like the expanse of the sky, like the sparkling of morning snow, like the oceans never ending waves (this of-course is only if a person is fortunate enough to have security) however those people who have had their hearts shut (it can even be God-forbid parents, siblings etc.) hence are jealous of the loving heart will (subconsciously from jealousy) bully – In truth this is a necessity, for a open heart is too open – it lacks discernment – But a closed heart is too closed, it lacks love – Enter Chassidus which teaches us “fear no-one or anything but have reverence for your God and love unconditionally” (meaning non-judgmentally, as you wish to not be judged) This is very profound, for the middle path is not being naive – like a child – nor a stone (like a nazi) rather accepting that people will be people and yes you too are people
