I believe based on Chassidus the following analogy is the truest example of life

Imagine life as two options

The first option is you are a dog

Now a dog is an interesting creature, for nothing it has is its own – unlike every other animal, the dog is fed, is sheltered, in fact, in a sense the dog is the closest animal to a human – it receives all its need and hence therefore instead of assuming how low it is, it assumes how great it is! (you may not have had the opportunity to see this but I recall it clearly – in New York (at least a while ago) there are stray dogs – they basically go from garbage can, to garbage can – and remarkably their personality begins to resemble a human who would be doing the same) in other words, our personality is very much based, on our perception of our grandeur, and our perception of our grandeur ironically is our greatest shame, for we perceive it, based not on what we have earned, not even what we have given, but what was given

The second and this is the only other option is to be Jacob

It states when Moshiach comes, we will say “Jacob is our father,” for he is the most important representation of God’s desire
