I always had a hunch – the hunch was similar to as Einstein said, “We don’t know the truth of God (God’s truths) but when we do discover it, I know it will be both simple and beautiful” In other words though we like to think we are sophisticated (and every generation thinks, relative to the previous, it is – especially when technology deluded us into thinking we were God etc.) the truth is, we are very simple – So once we understand the simple truths, we can understand, well everything – And I think this is the simple truth – You see, there is a single goal of humanity, which is both God’s and all of our goal (as the Rebbe says, as or souls come from God, our true desires is exactly the same) the truth is, we all desire unity! – so the question is, how do we achieve unity? and the answer is, through listening to God – as we see empirically, those people who do accept God’s biblical wisdom have exponentially greater levels of unity, than those who don’t – But the question is, why? – if we all wish for unity, why wouldn’t we have unity?? – the answer is, the opposite of unity is arrogance – you see, unity means I let go of my entitlement in order to allow your desires (this is the nature of love, to fulfill the desire of whom you love) But arrogance is the exact opposite, for if we feel “I am entitled to my way,” it is the exact opposite of giving you your way! (this is why, ironically in marriages, what begins in love ends in hate – you see, when a boy dates a girl he is in need, but when the girl signs the marriage contract, he begins to see himself entitled – hence instead of seeking to do her bidding, he seeks for her to do his; and the rest is catastrophe) So now we can ask in conclusion, why would God give us an ego in the first place? but in order to have unity, you must have separate desires, that then through humbling themselves – accepting we humans are morons, at best; evil at worst, without God! – and then we create the space for all!
