How to manage time

Nothing but nothing is harder than managing time!
Here are a few tips which are my personal experiences coupled with wisdom from the Rebbe/Jewish mysticism!
First and foremost, before one can manage time one needs to have self discipline!
One can never do a task without automatic instinctual causes say fear of a deadline, unless one has complete total self control! – we have written a booklet on self control elsewhere!
However, assuming you do have self control, ten important ideas are worthwhile to practice!
1. Every morning think what you need to do that day!
2. Daven / Pray in the morning, for through trusting in God’s grace and love to you, you eliminate fear and fear is the ultimate reason we cannot move forward!
3. One of the most amazing things I heard from the Rebbe is that when we have a limited amount of time – as we all know the power of the deadline, as the famous rule in business “the work fills the time” – THEN we get something done! – So create a deadline, by when you need to finish each of your tasks!
4. Now you need to be preemptive – instead of letting the deadline motivate you, your goal should be to finish the task BEFORE the deadline!
5. You need to reward yourself to create an instinctual desire to do things – so say after every task you complete, have a piece or something like chocolate you enjoy!
6. One of the most powerful motivaters is to have a list buddy – so at the end of the day you share your list with a friend and the power of shame is by far the greatest motivator that exists!
7. It also helps to have positive regard for your goals – so after you accomplish a goal – the sum total of many steps, write to the rebbe@ohel.org, to say that you have achieved …!
8. If nothing else, at night – review mentally if you were satisfied with your goal for the day!
9. Always bear in mind, as it states, in Kabbalah, the steps are for a big picture, so it helps to always have the larger goal in mind!
10. Last and most importantly, don’t forget, success is God’s gift! Sent via my BlackBerry from Vodacom – let your email find you!
