How To Achieve World And Inner Peace

| This coming week’s Torah portion is Vayakhel-Pekudei and remarkably it is the final public address from the Lubavitcher Rebbe. The Rebbe whose mastery both of Torah and of modern, if we can call it psychology- the zeitgeist, was absolute; and like the Rambam, was not only a leader to the Jewish people, but was a universal leader whose influence was so great, that in fact the Department of Education of America, was his brainchild. I find it amazing that in the final talk of the Rebbe, a clear mechanism for World Peace and for personal inner peace was revealed. The essence of peace comes from identification, as the Rambam says, the reason families contain greater love for each other than strangers, is they see their common bond. Not only do all people have this in common… but in fact, Everything! created by our Singular Creator, shares the fact that we are all created by the Creator, for a special purpose! This empowering knowledge, that “I have a unique role, within the cosmic whole,” is what creates both an inner dignity, for as the Rebbe says, a human being, who is primarily a conscious good soul, can only feel at peace when s/he is actively engaged in a higher purpose. |
Certainly it may take much effort to discover what is your unique gift to the world, and perhaps equally to have the courage to share it… but at least knowing that each and everything is a beautiful note in the grand Symphony of life – we are all necessary and vital! gives each person a sense of dignity, and instead of seeing the other as a competition, one sees them as compliment.
