How God’s mechanism to induce progressive success with humility functions

You see this world is really complex – for on one hand, no one will deny, that our mission must be to actually do more goodness and kindness; yet coupled with this mission, would automatically come the corollary feeling of success, which is highly disastrous, for nothing is worse for humanity, than developed egos.

So how did God decide to merge both realities namely, success with humility.

The answer is found in God’s Torah, the Torah is, teach our sages, a mechanism to induce humility, as our sages say, all of the Torah and it’s commandments are there to shave off man’s ego; yet we find other statement, to the effect, all of the Torah is given to create peace; certainly from any objective standpoint, Judaism is a list of dos and don’ts; hence once again it can and would induce a certain self-smugness “look at how much charity I gave etc.”

All of this is true if our approach to Judaism is incorrect, as our sages teach, if one studies the Talmud and it contributed to their ego, it is as if they injected prison, yet they also say, if one studies the Torah with humility, it’s as if they have taken the dose of life!

So how can the same thing, contribute in opposite directions?

The answer is on how we approach this.

When God asked the Jews if they wish to accept the Torah, they said, “we shall adhere to its commandments and try to understand.”

A very backward approach indeed – firstly, most people try to discern right from wrong, before they accept right from wrong – what would possibly induce people to say something so crazy.

The answer is, that when we approach truth from our own standpoint, as Dr. Rabbi Jonathan Sacks explains, the very altruistic rationalistic societies, produced the greatest barbarians – the liberty of Franc immediately descended into barbarity, with Simon the incorruptible declaring “terror a virtue,” the utopian of communism, descended into draconian evil, only paralleled by the – in their minds – scientific racial theory of humanity of Nazi Germany, a country becomes scientific mechanisms of efficient murder – clearly the approach of first understanding the truth not only doesn’t work, but as the Talmud states, as it feeds man’s ego and man’s ego is the devil, the tyrant within, for the more we feel higher the less we can handle anyone not adhering to us, and this anger causes the hatred and the hatred, causes the rationalizations / justifications to destroy the “evil” person/people in our mind – but the other approach, to adhere to a higher authority, works.

It works precisely, because it eliminates our ego – our ego wishes to be the most dominant force on the planet – “my desires should be fulfilled” – but when you say “first I shall adhere and perhaps understand later” the subsequent reality is, that everything you do contributes to the lessening of your ego, even if the result is successful.
