How A Kabbalist Sees Matter/Enegry

By zevi770 · March 25, 2016

Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi wrote the magnum opus of Kabbalah for the layman (though you can study its wisdom indefinitely.)

In this classic – the Tanya – we see a perspective on energy/matter.

Long before Einstein perceived energy and matter as being interchangeable, this Kabbalah master writes twelve chapters (and many more proclaiming just that.)

But where science falls short, for we are limited by what we can observe, hence that which is beyond observation is the realm of Kabbalah (as Einstein famously retorted to Heisenberg based on Heisenberg’s newfangled yet provable theory of the unpredictability of atoms “God doesn’t play dice with the universe” for to Einstein the scientific quest was to understand God’s thinking and Heisenberg retorted, “Don’t tell God how to think.”)

Behind matter is not only energy which obviously comes from God but from a Kabbalah perspective there are three sources; let’s color code it, red white and yellow.

Red is negative, so when I God-forbid see red, the demons who create matter using whatever Divine names that magically  do so, receive energy from my act which is why they will do all in their power to get me to be angry.

On the flip side is white, when I do good, in fact God himself becomes energized giving him the power to do more good (this concept is clarified clearly in the Rebbe’s ve-atah tetzavah.)

Yet most of matter is really neutral- neither good nor evil – say a glass of water, so those atoms get energized via the intermediary demons and within all obviously is a Divine spark, its fundamental source from which all life must contain its energy – in fact interestingly the Baal Shem Tov teaches that water cries for millennia requesting God to releasing it from the demon held prison, and when a good person takes a drink and thanks God for it then it shoots into his soul and unifies into holiness – the FDA testing food and breaking it down it its massless components found that when you completely break down food all that is left is – yes – a point of light!

In other words, if we were to paint our world what would we see?

We would see isis, palestinians, terrorists, anyone who is full of hate as being red – we would see those people who are kind, humble, noble, gentle as being white; we would see those people who are simply living for the sake of not dying or even indulging in whatever instinctual pleasure or fears they might have as being yellow.
