Hence, for the messianic state to take hold in our hearts, yes, three two thousand year periods – firstly, of creating even the notion of civilization – of people working in tandem for mutually beneficial goals, (as game theory explains, that to get out of the zero sum game “me or you,” people have to have a lot of trial and error – that collaboration is better than competitive, mutually antagonistic paradigms (in fact, we see in tribalism – including the Arabs – mentality today, that they work only in this mutually destructive balance of power, zero sum game paradigm) Then we had to get the correct civilization, for the earliest known code of ethics were as draconian as Islamic law (which cuts of the hands of thieves etc.) only in the Torah, was justice balanced with mercy, and to a large extent all ethics (at least in ethical civilized countries, not mockeries of countries like Sadiua Arabian dictatorship, stealing all of the wealth for a single family etc.) are completely based on the standards of the Torah (though of course they may diverge somewhat, not being entirely aware of all of the Torah’s standards – it’s called the Judeo-Christian ethic, but only the Christian ethic itself, is a meaningless term, for it all stems from the Jewish Bible which predated Christianity by well over a thousand years and forms the major source of the ethical behavioral standards within Christianity) but ultimately (and here is where both Jews and Christians and in fact everyone gets stuck;) God is not limited to a book (in fact, God’s book is unlimited, as Chassidus amply demonstrates, the infinite teachings that like a babbling brook constantly surge forth from within the infinity contained in the Torah) and as God is not limited, hence our current Torah based balance of both mercy (preceding) justice is not the end, it is rather the launching pad, it is the springboard, it is merely the stage on which our lives – infinite lives – lives in which we continuously, from our Rebbes, from whatever wisdom God sends our way – particularly as the Baal Shem Tov teaches, one must keep their eyes and ears open, for God is always communicating – for the infinity of God first taught us to collaborate, then taught us a merciful approach to justice, but ultimately – currently – and eternally, will always increase in our wisdom, increase in our mercy, increase in our ability to get beyond our instincts and be ruled by the Divine within.
