The Alter Rebbe: “Jews die of shame” – if you have money and you have excess and you don’t actively seek out and literally force those who need it to take it (and no the chevra kadishah etc. do NOT provide everyone’s need – there are hundreds of families starving) then can you live if God forbid someone commits suicide (many a year here) out of shame!
