G-d runs everything and when we see that it becomes good

In Gemara Chullin 7b (חולין ז ע”ב), Rabbi Chanina makes two profound statements about Divine Providence.
### 1\. Nothing happens without G-d’s decree
אין אדם נוקף אצבעו מלמטה אלא אם כן מכריזין עליו מלמעלה
“A person does not even bump his finger down here unless it has been proclaimed from Above.”
Meaning: Even the smallest event in our lives is not outside Divine Providence. Nothing happens independently of G-d’s knowledge and decree.
### 2\. There is nothing besides G-d
אין עוד מלבדו — ואפילו כשפים
“There is nothing besides Him — even sorcery.”
The Gemara relates that a woman attempted to gather dust from beneath Rabbi Chanina’s feet to perform sorcery against him.
Rabbi Chanina told her that she could take it, because nothing could harm him contrary to G-d’s will.
The Gemara explains that Rabbi Chanina’s extraordinary spiritual merit protected him.
### The deeper message
Rabbi Chanina teaches that G-d’s sovereignty extends into the smallest details of existence.
Not merely that G-d created the universe or guides its overall direction, but that even the seemingly insignificant events of daily life are subject to Divine Providence.
This is a foundational concept developed extensively in Chassidus, particularly the Baal Shem Tov’s teaching of Hashgachah Pratis.
