From three to one

The Kabbalah particularly the foundational work Sefer Yetzirah writes of three positive structures that must merge into one

Gevurah – Strictness   Chessed – Love
  Tifferes Compasion
Hod – Harmony   Netzach – Victory
  Unity

Abraham is the archetype of unconditional love but unconditional love unchecked gives rise also to unconditional selfishness as seen in the Arabs, that instead of gratitude and goodness, God’s love / kindness to them only wets their appetite for more and more and more…

As their egos are invested in their love, hence all that comes their way their egos consume, as “It was my strength,” “By the power of my cunningness,” “This fortune is all mine,” and hence their ego grows into insatiable levels whereby they are currently the foremost sponsors of human indency – terrorism – anitsemitism – and tyranny in the world today (for the ego that grows, leaves no room for others.)

Then we have the paradigm of Isaac, absolute strictness, living basically an aesthetic life, but here too one sees in Eisav Rome and the Roman hunger for power, an absolute ruthlessness in their advancements of their goals.

And then comes Jacob /Israel, whom the Jews are named after, and here we find the blend, the syntheses, the harmonious merge of the best of Abraham and Isaac.

For Jacob takes the compassion and goodness of Abraham and the strictness of Isaac but in the right proportions.

In other words, compassion must be focused outward – all the attributes on the right side of the graph above are how we should be giving – not taking!

All the elements on the left side of the graph above are how we should be inwards, namely supervising our own behavior ensuring our own harmonious relationships, not judging others about theirs!

And hence He, Jacob, becomes the chosen of our forefather’s, representing the middle, how humanity should act – compassionately – and be – united.
