For Kids – The Lessons Of This Week’s Parsha

By zevi770 · July 14, 2017

This week’s Parsha Pinchos tells the story of how when the people of Midyan who realized Hashem was going to give their land to the Jewish people (they lived in the land of Cannan that then became Israel) when after their curses failed to work, they decided to trick the Jewish people.

They were told by Billam that Hashem doesn’t like when Jewish people and non-Jews marry – every group must marry its own and do its own mission.

So they told their girls to go and try to get Jewish boys to marry them.

Well when the Jewish boys went to live with them, Hashem caused a death plague.

So to stop it Pinchas the Cohen went and put a spear through one couple and then the plague stopped.

This teaches us three things:

The first is obvious – only a Jew may marry a Jew.

The second is that sometimes when something bad is happening one must stop it.

But the question is, there were so many people – why was it the young Pinchas? and the answer is because when he saw Jews dying, he loved them so much, he was forced by his love to think, what can be done!! – for when you love someone, your brain will show you!

One other lesson from today’s Parshah is that whatever you are doing – when a person is a focused then they are able to succeed.
