Following on the last blog, the spectrum of truth, we can redefine in simple words (of-course based on Kabbalah/Chassidus) life – there are three (corresponding to the three spectrums, light, gray, black) of life – there is convictions which is a repressive force – in other words, convictions is conscience, as our sages teach, if someone said, “I succeeded in doing good, but it was easy, don’t believe him,” for the force of conviction, always comes at the expense of gray, which is primarily expressive – we all want love – love is an expression, but once the “I” is involved it can easily turn into black, anger (which is why, we are most cruel to those we love – when we get angry) In other words, and I believe this to be the sum total of Judaism/Jewish mysticism: we need to be light – light is not loving God or loving man, it is listening to God (which by necessity means repressing the ego for in this way, we can truly love and never hate.)
