Firstly, we must ensure that our expectations of both ourselves and others are realistic.

I have a cousin who is a communal Rabbi and one of his gripes is how unrealistic peoples expectations are of one another.

People expect one another to be perfect, but as he correctly quotes, that from the sin of eating the forbidden fruit, spiritually what occurred is THERE IS NO GOOD IN OUR WORLD, WITHOUT SOME EGO INVOLVED, AND NO EGO WITHOUT SOME LOVE / HEART INVOLVED hence we find that both people can get angry, and both angry people can give charity!

We are mixtures, and obviously it is our job to continuously work in forgiving, trusting God etc. etc.

But to expect anyone to not get angry, including ourselves; to think that anyone is completely evil, is of course to forget the fact, that like people sifting through tons of rubble for a few precious diamonds; like people planting thousands of seeds for a few trees to grow; life is an infinite process! a long journey! so let’s calm down, help one another in our arduous task of refining ourselves!
