Etiquette – My friend Yossi Mylinsky who besides being a wallaby, is in my humble opinion a bit of a genius, says telephones are actually intrusive – but sms’s are not So based on the reality that people don’t pick up their phones as much as respond to sms, let me clarify my modern day guide to etiquette. Firstly, we must understand that Yossi has a point – you see in the olden days, when you needed to speak to someone there was no other way but to show up at their door – then mail was developed, but it certainly wouldn’t be used in a village etc. Then came the telephone – as all technology, we embrace its modernity, not understanding its consequence – suddenly, people lost their freedom, for 24/7 you are slave to whoever calls you. In fact, today, before I call someone, I sms them, asking if it’s o.k. to call? as the saying goes, it’s polite to knock first.
