either we have/ don’t, self esteem – if we don’t (which is related to a perception that we are perceived in a positive light) therefore we won’t do things to cause you to think poorly (of-course, as societies / groups, can have individualistic identities, hence what may cause pride in a society – say being a jihadi murderer…. – may be evil, however individually, this person within their own society, wants to look good) on the flip side, we can have a situation in which we perceive, that we have a negative perception (in fact unfortunately this is the problem of the Arabs – and as we think… in any event, everyone thinks poorly of us, lacking shame, it’s just a question of what can I extract… – now this is not to say that the person who has shame, is completely righteous (he too wants only his desires, including not being shamed – the ultimate is, that my sense of pride / shame, is whether to God, I obey)
