Dreams

When we are dreaming we are experiencing a taste of God.
My grandfather had a recurring dream in which his previous master the Lubavitcher Rebbe (the father in law of the Rebbe) kept coming and telling him to raise funds (he was a fundraiser) for the Rebbe.
He came to the Rebbe and told him the dream, said the Rebbe, it states in the Talmud, that in every dream something is off- the amount is off, it is really ten times more!
But in a exposition of dreams, the Rebbe says something fascinating, who is causing the dream? – how do you see an entire reality which isn’t real?! – often messages do come through – we know dreams technically are wish fulfillments, which play a critical role in sleep, for we go to sleep desiring that car we saw in an ad (even subconsciously) and by getting it in a dream, fulfilling our wish, we don’t feel like such a loser (that we don’t have it) This is why we go to sleep tired (it is not from work, it is rather, each subconscious desire weighs on our hearts) in fact, if God-forbid someone is traumatized, so their desire is not to encounter the trauma, they will often have recurring dreams of the fearful event and they don’t wake up so fresh.
Dreams are fascinating, for as in all reality, there is a direct interplay between you and God/reality.
Our sages teach us – in the direction you wish to go, God leads you.
Ultimately, God is leading you to realize that he is your direction – most of us have a very long circuitous route getting there!
