Never before, have we had it so good

Never before, has there been less violence

Never before, has there been less wars

Never before, has there been less starvation

Never before, has there even been, a well-to-do middle class

Never before, have more had so much freedom

And yet I think, never before have there been more depressed people

Never before have there been more suicidal people

Are we incapable of discerning how to appreciate blessings?

Are we untrained on how to live when times are not forcing us into wars and survival?

The answer is obviously, yes!

We know not how to win the peace.

God came to the Jewish people thousands of years ago on a mountain – an event which is a historical fact – witnessed by a nation that wrote it down and is alive today with that book…

And the essence of Judaism boils down to a simple notion as the first of the Ten Commandments, “Believe in a personal God!”

But what difference does it make to my life?!

How does this belief, that God cares about me, make any difference?

The answer is simple enough:

For it is only when we believe we have been blessed, not that we have won the peace, but God has granted us peace! not that we have become prosperous, but God has made us prosperous!

That in return for that – instead of becoming arrogant, and hence desiring and hence being frustrated by not achieving more – we in turn become grateful!

Imagine that:

A world, that every morning would say thank-you for all the blessings which took literally thousands of years to achieve!!
