Days of light, days of darkness, days of happiness

Although this is really a Kabbalistic doctrine, but as a story tells it best, I will use myself to describe these three stages

We begin in days of light – our lives are (hopefully) filled with the knowledge of the security and love the world provides.

Obviously this relates to our little world, our parents, home, family, but in our experience, these are days of light.

We feel secure, loved, hence good.

Then comes days of darkness, whether from a bully in school, or even from a sibling or parent who becomes jealous of our light (themselves having gone through days of darkness) we become harassed.

The aim of a bully is to give you days of darkness.

Eventually, the light dissipates in face of the fear, hurt, resentment; and unless we can overcome those emotions we shall live in darkness forever.

But then, comes the path of Jacob, the messianic redemption! and if you wish to once again live in joy instead of pain, happiness instead of shame, all you need to do, is not only read but adhere, not only hear but truly get, the following paragraph:

In truth, you are secure, but it is not people who provide your security.

In truth you are beautiful, but it’s not people who designate you as such.

In truth you are the raison detr’e of the entire universe – that’s trillions of stars, planets, gazillions of atoms, cells etc. all exist only as a by-product of God’s desire to create you!
