Constants That Must Continuously Occur in the Universe

March 9, 2026

1. Gravity

Gravity continuously pulls matter together.

Without gravity:

Stars would not form

Planets would fly away

Galaxies would disperse

Our bodies would not stay on Earth

Gravity keeps the entire structure of the cosmos stable.

—

2. Electromagnetic Force

This force holds atoms and molecules together.

Without it:

Chemistry would not exist

Light would not travel

Atoms would collapse

Everything solid around us exists because electromagnetic interactions never stop.

—

3. Strong Nuclear Force

This force holds protons and neutrons together in the nucleus.

Without it:

Atoms would disintegrate

Matter would not exist

The periodic table would collapse

It operates inside every atom constantly.

—

4. Expansion of Space

Space itself is expanding continuously.

This keeps:

galaxies separated

cosmic structure balanced

Without this expansion, the universe would collapse or behave very differently.

Constants That Must Continuously Occur in the Human Body

5. Breathing (Oxygen Exchange)

Every second:

Oxygen enters blood

Carbon dioxide leaves

If oxygen stops for:

10 seconds: brain stress

3–5 minutes: brain damage

—

6. Heartbeat and Circulation

Your heart pumps about:

100,000 beats per day

7,000–8,000 liters of blood daily

If it stops:

unconsciousness occurs within seconds

—

7. Cellular Energy (ATP Production)

Every cell constantly converts nutrients into energy.

Your body produces roughly:

body weight worth of ATP every day

Without this process:

cells die within minutes.

—

8. Brain Electrical Activity

Your brain continuously fires electrical signals.

About:

86 billion neurons communicating constantly

This controls:

movement

memory

emotions

consciousness

—

9. Temperature Regulation

Your body must stay near:

37°C (98.6°F)

If it rises or falls too much:

enzymes fail

organs stop functioning

—

A Deeper Perspective

Scientists often call these “fine-tuned constants.”

If many of them changed even slightly:

stars could not exist

chemistry would fail

life would be impossible

Many thinkers see this incredible stability as evidence of a deep underlying order to reality.

In Jewish thought this idea appears in verses like:

“המחדש בטובו בכל יום תמיד מעשה בראשית”
“He renews the creation every moment.”

Meaning: existence is not a one-time event — it is constantly sustained.
