Conflict is inevitable, for as the Rebbe says, we all are born uniquely, hence as we literally see the world through our own spectrum, it only stands to reason that reason itself coming from so many different rational perspectives will inevitably breed conflict – the question is this “how do you handle conflict”? – does another’s disagreement with you seem to invalidate you? (this is a sign of arrogance, for the mind can tolerate opposing opinions, for it is rational, but the egotistical understanding that “I am right and my way must be accepted” cannot) Ultimately our goal is not only to be able to tolerate a conflict, rather to be able to understand that as it is inevitable, it is the will of the Creator that we create peace – which as the Rebbe says can only be effectuated by the art of compromise
