Charity and Charity

In Todays Tanya – the Alter Rebbe teaches, that Jews instinctively are compassionate people (truly if we look at the charitable contributions of Jews it’s not disproportionately but in a league of its own, relative to the gentile population) however, instinctive compassion based on sensitive souls is not enough, one must break ones instincts, for compassion is tempered by selfish instincts, and when a person goes against the grain to create contributions of ALL HIS TIME, MONEY, LOVE as Abraham and all the great saints and saintly women role modeled to us, it is then that a spirit of God descends on man and protects him from all evil!
