Chapter 32

By zevi770 · May 8, 2019

1. Lavan got up early in the morning and kissed his grandsons and daughters, he then blessed them and he left and returned home.

2. Yakov went on his way and angels of God encountered him.

3. Jacob said when he saw them “this is the camp of God” and he called the name of the place the camps.

4. And Jacob sent angels to go to Eisav his brother to the land of Said, the plane of Edom.

5. And he commanded them saying, so shall you say to my brother Eisav, so has said your servant Jacob, I have a lived with Lavan and tarried until now.

6. And I acquired oxen and donkeys, sheep and servants, and maids, and I have sent to tell my master to find favor in his eyes.

7. And the angels returned to Jacob saying, we came to your brother Eisav, and he is also coming to greet you with 400 armed men accompanying.

8. Jacob became very afraid and pained that he might have to kill, and he divided his Camp – those with him and the sheep and the cattle and camels into two camps.

9. And he said if Eisav will come upon one camp and attack it, the another camp will be able to run away.

10. And Yakov said “the God of my father Abraham, and the God of my father Yitzchok, the who said to me, return to your land, to your birth place and I will do good to you.

11. I am humbled by all the kindness and all the goodness that you have done to your servant, for with my staff I crossed this River, and now I am two camps.

12. Please save me from my brother from Eisav, for I am afraid of him, lest he come and smite mother and child.

13. And you have said ‘I will do good to you, and make your children as the sand of the Seas, that cannot be counted due to how numerous they will be.”

14. He went to sleep there that night and he took from what came into his hand, a present to Eisav his brother.

15. 200 female goats and 20 male goats, 200 sheep and 20 Rams.

16. Nursing camels and their young 30, 40 cows, and 10 Bulls, 20 female donkeys, and 10 male donkeys.

17. He placed in the hand of his servants each herd separately, and he said to his servants go before me and place a distance between each herd.

18. And he commanded the first group saying, when you see Eisav my brother and he asks you “who do you belong to and where are you going? and to whom do these possessions belong?

19 And you should say, to your servant Jacob, it is a present sent to my master Eisav, and actually he is following us.

20. He commanded likewise the second group, and also the third group and also all those herds following, saying, like this you should say to Eisav when he sees you.

21. And you should say, behold also Jacob your servant is after us, for he said, I shall calm him down with a present that goes before me, and afterwards I will see him, maybe he will be gracious to me.

22. And the present went before him and he stayed overnight, that night at the camp.

23. And he got up that night and he took his two wives and his two maids and his 11 children and he crossed the Yabok river.

24. And he took them and he crossed the river and all with him crossed

25. Jacob remained alone and a man fought with him until dawn.

26. And he saw that he couldn’t beat him, so he maimed him in his thigh, and Jacob’s thigh was dislodged during the fight.

27. And he said, send me for Dawn has broken (it was an angel and he had to go pray) and he said “I shall not send you, unless you bless me.”

28. And he said to him, what is your name? and he said Yaakov.

29. And he said, your name shall no more be called Yakov but Yisroel, for you have fought with angels and man and won.

30 And Yaakov said, what is your name, and he said, why should you ask for my name, and he blessed him there.

31 And Yakov called the name of the place Pineal, for I have seen God face to face, and my soul was saved.

32 And the Sun shined as he passed over Pineal, and he was limping on his hip.

33 Therefore the Jewish people eat not the sciatic nerve which is on the thigh, till this very day, for the thigh of Jacob was hit at the siatic nerve.
