Can it be, can we achieve levels previous generations of one hundred percent devotion to God people, couldn’t?

Yes!

You see, there are two reasons why!

Firstly, we must understand that spiritual levels are not like rock climbing – the more you do it, the better you get – rather, as the Alter Rebbe speaks about the level of a Tzaddik (great saint) in Tanya, it is simply a GIFT from God!

Now, God designed the world in such a way, that we should all achieve the highest union with God; however, he didn’t want this greatest possible gift to be felt like a handout (bread of shame,) as such, designed, that we should draw him into this world step by step, mitzvah by mitzvah, for every mitzvah draws down God’s infinity clothed in the finite, hence, the Rebbe teaches, as we are AFTER this process! today, every Jew can receive the gift of becoming a Tzaddik!

Now, so, as this is the case, we are left with two conclusions: 1. As Divinity has already saturated this physical plane, we can achieve levels hitherto unacssesible, despite the fact, we ourselves may not be very high, because it’s a gift, and to receive a gift even a small child can, but additionally, levels never granted to even the greatest Tzaddikim of the past, are, and will be granted, for Moshiach is about revelation of Atzmus, the level that was previously concealed!
