As I think about my last blog (or if you are subscribed, the blog below) I now understand, where even the greatness of democracy falls short; because, ultimately it is in compassion that one sees whether an opinion, worldview, religion etc. is kind or really self serving; hence, ultimately not compassionate, not good not kind, rather merely a better alternative to autocracies, so while we may surmise that democracies is based on respect for the fellow man, something, unfortunately lacking in authoritative dictatorships or even Islamic political systems, which is simply about abuse, for the sake of Islam; nonetheless, we must say, it lacks the fundamental’s of compassion, hence, the only true socio and political outlook is Judaism, which puts the responsibility, RESPONSIBILITY, of compassion, of charity, of kindness, on the individual! and this system finds fullest expression in Chassidus, in which the entire emphasis is on the Commandment to Love!
