A story of love and hate which I witnessed

By zevi770 · January 8, 2015

Once there was a boy who loved all people – with openness he regarded all people as moral, kind, compassionate, seeking truth – then he got bullied – maliciously demeaned publicly, a new thought occurred – “well it seems some people are plain evil” – but as the pain increased, he felt his heart shatter – a dark cloud descended – whereas before, incapable of seeing evil, now he saw it everywhere – and then he stumbled upon Jewish mysticism which teaches – “little boy, you are not alone, for this is the way of life – for when people are feeling secure they love and when they love, they never judge; but when people feel insecure and jealous of those who are happy (for insecurity, anxiety, fear is unpleasant, and security, love, pleasant; and as the foundational book of Kabbalah teaches, “All people desire pleasure and hate pain”) then we begin to imagine faults in those who we saw none in before; these faults seem so vicious and vile, as needing us to judge – no – not only judge, but to shame them! (the bullied becomes the bully!) But in truth, God too, went through this process, for did He not begin creation with giving people everything? Did He not become then repulsed by human behavior? But after the flood a new order came into the world, not one of naïve-love nor harsh-judgment, but understanding; for the wise person can see evil but understands that the evil person too, was once a little boy or girl.
