A Story

I read a beautiful story, Rabbi (I think) Dovid Shochat, was approached by an agitated man, holding half an eaten apple – “Rabbi my family tells me I must marry Jewish, if you can prove there is a God, I will” – the Rabbi calmly said – “The apple will prove it” and took a knife and cut the apple in half – he showed him the five seeds and ten spaces or parts at the core – “It says God created the world with 10-5” – the man wasn’t convinced – a Reader’s Digest was on the table – so the Rabbi said, “the Reader’s Digest will prove it” and he opened the Reader’s Digest randomly, and amazingly there was a collection of sayings and one of them was Shemah Yisroel; the man was convinced!
So the Rabbi’s daughter asked him, “How come you took such random things, to convince a guy, relating to such an important question?!”
“My daughter” he replied “we are simply God’s agents.” In other words, we don’t change the world – everything that we are asked to do by God has been preordained, the slightest of overcoming our fears / hesitation will create the God himself will provide the solution!
