A Modern New-Timeless Bible

One of the dumbest things society did, was try to make the Bible – the source of everything good, noble, ethical – irrelevant.
We did this through sophisticated scientific theories aimed (subconsciously) at removing its authenticity.
What we have today is a world in deep sadness – like a rudderless ship – like a lost dog…
You see, far from being restrictive, the Bible and following its core values, is redemptive.
You see, nothing is worse than lack of clarity, as our sages teach “There is greater joy then resolving doubt” – when you have no compass – you are aimless.
So obviously the language / idiom of the Bible is quite old, in fact, it’s not even a complete book; for as we know, God gave many interpretations which were passed via the great Rabbis (and only later written in the Mishnah, Talmud, Zohar etc.)
But it behooves us to bring the Bible into an idiom (terminology) that modern man, simply, easily, can digest.
So to begin with ,there are two parts:
- Belief
- Actions (right vs. wrong)
Let’s start with a.
All is God (in other words, there is no reality – “reality” as Einstein (and the more physics we learn, the more we truly realize) “is an illusion, albeit a very persistent one” -This means, you are living one hundred percent within God; like a fish in the ocean; like a bird in air; the very air you breath, the ground you walk on, your physical body are (as we know from science) exactly the same illusionary material – As one physicist said, “All we can say about all this intangible matter, is, it’s more like a concentrated bit of energy, like a thought” -You heard the man! our universe is simply God’s consistent thinking – like the Higgs-Boson (“the God particle”) that constantly makes atoms appear (and as you know.. they then disappear! and God rethinks it, in a never ending flow!)
However, it is also obvious that you exist – in fact, the purpose of all of creation (namely, this persistent illusion) is that “an independent ego – desirer… (for the ego is the desire to fulfill my desires, and a depressed person, who has shame, hence turns against himself, loses this desire – the precursor to all desires) …should be married to a brain” – these two beings, the impulsive (and even evil – for the larger the ego, the larger the expectation to fulfill my desire, hence the greater the anger. and the greater the anger, the more the “justified” sadism) and the brain – an objective observer, which contains within it God-Himself – for God is the quality of compassion, which we all have, are basically at war.
The goal of life is for the brain to overrule the ego – to channel the powerful desiring into only positive, and similarly to be repulsed by evil (for to the extent we love what is right, is the extent we are repulsed by what is evil.)
For the mind to win this war takes a number of things – the first is what I call trauma – for as long as we are in a illusionary reality (as for lack of better word “liberals” are, we simply cannot assess – as our assessment is clouded by our emotion – conversely if someone is in negative trauma (fear / anxiety) they also cannot assess.) This is as Jung said “there is no birth of consciousness except through pain” – so suffering wakes us up – perhaps it should come as no surprise why the Jewish people who have suffered the most – and so frequently – are also the most productive – this is what the Army who has reams on PTSD also calls it, “PTSGrowth”, for those who have gone through trauma find that though they would never find it, once it found them, after a number of years, they are more focused, more courageous, more noble.
Understanding the role of fear and lust – effectively the desires, is called in Kabbalistick terminology, “the animal-soul” – every animal has a two part system: 1. Pleasure (whatever it biologically receives pleasure from) and pain (whatever it biologically receives pain from) and then its modus-operendi is “more pleasure!” “less pain!” – its entire life revolves around this.
We too are beset by lust (be it for sex, as its pleasurable; drugs, as its pleasurable; fame, as we get a little high (which is often the motive for money) and fears, be they of pain, abuse, shame, PTSD etc.
To be able to function, as mentioned, the emotional reality must be quite – to do this we must a. stop lusting – imagine sex as excrement – as you can imagine drugs or money (now this is not to say that sex and money are not nesscisery, but as long as they are within the Jewish guidelines of giving etc.)
Fear is not so easy to conquer, for once the heart believes something is dangerous, as hard as it is to get rid of an addiction, it is equally as hard to stop fearing.
The only real way to overcome fear is through faith – the knowledge that God is love, God loves! God protects! and all He does is for the good! (read that a hundred times – it’s really worth it!)
In summary, all of Judaism boils down to goodness and kindness – letting the mind do good through instructing the animal – the war between the two never ends; but you do learn with time and practice, how to become a far more skilled rider.
Dos:
- There are two subreligions, for when God gave the Bible He gave one religion for Jews and another for Gentiles.
The religion for Jews is well-known, consisting of the 613 commandments (See https://kabbalahwisdom.org/judaism/mitzvos/meditations-for-your-soul?iframe=true&theme_preview=true )
The religion for Gentiles is less known, but it is the Seven Noahide laws:
- Do not worship idols
- Do not curse god
- Do not commit adultery
- Do not murder
- Do not steal
- Do not be savage
- Create a justice system
Now for both Jew and Gentiles as mentioned, our religion boils down to “Do goodness and kindness, and, Don’t be cruel.”
However practically what does this mean?
How do I play these noble ideals?
The first thing is you must “Fear no-one but God” (for if you fear, you become its slave.)
The second thing is you must induce a love (for if you love, you are compelled to give – goodness and kindness…)
To love you must know that you and everyone else are really the same! as Kabbalah says, we are just radiance of the Divine soul which gives life to each of us – as Oprah says, “We are all far more similar, than different.”
However and this is very important, within us is a little devil who is adroit at confusing us – life is simply as the old hippie teaching “Think global, act local!” – love begins to those who are closest to you – you have no right helping a stranger, while letting your brother starve – its concentric circles- not sexy, but correct.
