A human being is a composite as Kabbalah and other doctrines teach us of an objective mind – of a subjective heart – and of an ego – and though we may think of the ego as bad, the ego is much like fire, if you don’t have fire or energy, your car will not move. But on the other hand if you do not have breaks, you will crash. So we must have, and in fact, when we’re born, G-d develops us in a mechanism that our ego develops, and then we must put breaks. *The intelligent person will be the one that will direct himself.
