Hey Guys
I love you
So though I know you may be smarter and better than me – but as I am older, I have a lot more practical experience than you – so here is the list of the most important things I learned – hopefully you won’t have to learn them, the hard way, like I did:
1. First of all, we need to know we are Hashem; because our Neshomah is what runs us – without a Neshomah, a person is not alive – and as a Yid, your Neshomah is Hashem!
2. Now Hashem put himself into us, a body; this body has a very very very bad part, called a Yetzer Hara – our Yetzer Hara is truly truly truly evil – as from it comes anger and from anger comes hurting others, chas vshaloim!
3. To beat our Yetzer Hara, we need three things:
1. We need to truly realize, that “Shemah Yisroel, Hashem Eloikeinu, Hashem Echad!” this means, every single thing that happens, both what seems good or bad, is Hashem! (Hashem is one, means; He Runs Everything!) Once we realize, that if someone insults us, it really was Hashem, for a GOOD reason! then we don’t get angry!
2. We must follow Torah and Mitzvos – now I know it seems, “Why should I be different?!” but dear great kids, you have to understand, you are not the first people in this world – our world has been going on for over 5000 years, and here are the facts: in those five thousand years, only one group of people was always kind and never mean; those were Yidden who kept the Torah and Mitzvos (this doesn’t mean, that you automatically beat your Yetzer Hara; but as our Chachamim teach us, specifically because we have to beat the Yetzer Hara and be different to follow the Torah and Mitzvos; each and every Mitzvah you do, especially the exceptionally challenging one of tznius today – you are really showing your Yetzer Hara, that Hashem is your king, and you are not its servant! – and this weakens its power over you!)
3. And most importantly, the Rebbe told us, how to have the ultimate weapon in beating the Yetzer Hara, and that is “Appoint-A-Mashpia” – ask someone you respect and you feel comfortable with, to guide you! for as Chassidim teach, “Two Jews, Are Two Yetzer Tovs, Against One Yetzer Hara!” for even though the person you respect, has a Yetzer Hara; his or her Yetzer Hara, doesn’t care about yours, so now you have two Yetzer Tovs, two Nefesh Elokiss, Neshomois, fighting, against one Yetzer Hara!
4. Eating healthy is the most important part in staying healthy – practically, you need to eat lots of fruits; for fruits have fiber, which studies show, is the most important part of being healthy.
5. Also, drink, up to (minimal) eight glasses of water a day – our bodies are mostly water, so like a car running on empty, like a battery losing its juice, without water, we can’t function properly!
6. When you wake up in the morning, when you are saying Modeh Ani, think how grateful you are, that you went to bed tired and woke up fresh, think how – make a list – Hashem gives you all these great blessings (the first thought of the day sets the tone for the day, so by being grateful in the morning, you will always be happy!)
7. Get involved in some kind of Chessed project – this is perhaps the most important thing you can do – because we all need self-esteem, and the only, and best way, to get it, is BY HELPLING OTHERS!
