The Hierarchy of Importance

 

First and foremost, above which there is nothing and below which as well; is, truth

 

Without truth, you as perhaps the vast majority of people alive and dead, are living well in a dream (fantasy or nightmare – this is the bottom line of perhaps the wisest man of all time, King Solomon in his book Koheles – “what difference will all my achievements, lust etc. be, for as the insect passes, do I not?”)

 

The truth is, as he concludes, the entire purpose of life is to fulfill the will of your Creator

 

However we enjoy not that which we do not understand (as what makes us human is understanding)

 

So here is where Jewish mysticism can help

 

Why

 

Why is it necessary to a. be created, b. listen.

 

The answer is that a. you are in essence born of Divine unconditional respect (when you respect a person, you love them; and when you love them, you are kind)

 

Secondly, in order for you to be happy, a number of realities must occur:

 

The first is you must be good and kind

 

The second is you mustn’t be arrogant (for arrogance means you are the best!” hence most deserving! Hence, a. whatever you have is never enough, for no-one should have more… and b. you then become jealous, and jealousy causes a desire to demean, and if you are mean, can you be happy?)

 

hence the only way around this conundrum is to have a body of wisdom which a. you must submit to, but b. that gets you to do good
